William Miner and Norman Lacquette scored two goals each and Owen Chubka made 30 saves as the Dauphin Clippers shutout the defending Westman High School Hockey League champion Major Pratt Trojns 9-0. Jaxon Bodnar, Dixon Plett, Logan Chapman, Boston Karlson and Ethan Carnegie also scored for the Clippers. 


The Manitoba Junior Hockey League's East Division co-leaders are in the Canadian Junior Hockey League's Top 20 Rankings. The Portage Terriers (16-4) moved up three spots from six to three. The Steinbach Pistons (16-4) dropped from three to seven. The Winkler Flyers (13-5-3-1) received honorable mention. The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Battlefords North Stars (18-0-2-1) are the number one nationally ranked team for the fourth week in a row. 


The Brandon Wheat Kings dropped a 4-2 decision to the Broncos in Swift Current. Brett Hyland and Nolan Ritchie scored power play goals for the Wheat Kings who lead 1-0 after the first period but trailed 3-1 after 40 minutes. Broncos netminder Gage Alexander made 37 saves. Brandon is 0-2 on its five-game road trip which continues tonight against the Tigers in Medicine Hat. 


Canada’s National Women’s Hockey Team dropped the first game of the Rivalry Series on Tuesday night, with a 4-3 shootout loss to the United States in front of a sold-out crowd at Prospera Place in Kelowna. Claire Thompson, Marie-Philip Poulin and Emily Clark scored in regulation for the Canadians. Hilary Knight and Alex Carpenter score in the shootout for the Americans. Game two in the Rivalry Series is Thursday in Kamloops. 


Six Winnipeg Blue Bombers are 2022 Canadian Football League All-Stars. They include quarterback Zach Collaros, receiver Dalton Schoen, left tackle Stanley Bryant, guard Pat Neufeld, defensive back Deatrick Nichols and kick returner Janarion Grant. The CFL All-Star Team was selected by 47 members of the Football Reporters of Canada, the league’s head coaches as well as submissions through the All-Star Fan Vote.


Mark Franklin and Murray Warren both have 3-1 records heading into day three of the Canadian Masters Curling Championships at the Pembina Curling Club in Winnipeg. Judy Colwell is 1-2 while Sandra Cowling is 1-3.
