The Boissevain Border Kings and Virden Oil Kings were winners in the Tiger Hills Hockey League Friday night. Devon LeBlanc had a goal and an assist as Boissevain downed Souris 6-1. Dustin Fisher, Jeremy Johnson, Dakota Scheirlinck, Keith Grondin and Tyler Lewis also scored for the Border Kings who improved to 13-0 on the season. Cole Kirkup had the lone goal for the Elks. Cam Whyte and Tanner Lewis had two goals each as Virden edged Melita 9-8. Andrew Gerrand, Tanner Koroscil, Brennan Williams, Shane Keown and Ryan Colon also scored for the Oil Kings. Elisha Bambridge had a pair of goals for the Bisons; Lucas Oliver had a goal and four assists while the rest went to Tanner Serruys, Will Brown, Ryan Crepeele, Drew Kirkup and Cole Oliver. The two teams combined for 10 first period goals.


Connor McClennon had a hat trick as the Winnipeg Ice defeated the Raiders 5-2 in Prince Albert. Owen Pederson and Cole Muir also scored for the Ice who received a 23-save performance from Daniel Hauser. Winnipeg (29-5-2) leads the Western Hockey League’s Eastern Conference standings by three points over the Edmonton Oil Kings.


The Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms on a new one-year contract with offensive tackle Stanley Bryant. The 35-year-old Goldsboro, North Carolina native, who originally signed with the Blue Bombers as a free agent in 2015, won his third Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman award in 2021.


The 2022 Canadian U18 Boys & Girls Curling Championships will be held May 2nd - 7th at the Oakville Curling Club. The event was originally scheduled for February 14th - 20th in Timmons, Ontario but ongoing uncertainty related to the COVID-19 pandemic prompted Curling Canada to announce the Championships would be postponed and moved to a different location because there was no ice availability in Timmons for the rest of this season.
