Zach Collaros completed 21-of-32 passes for 301 yards and Willie Jefferson returned a Dane Evans interception 30 yards for a pick six as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers downed the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 26-12 Friday night at IG Field. Brady Oliveira ran for 56 yards and a one-yard touchdown late in the second quarter. Nic Denski caught six passes for 96 yards before leaving the game in the third quarter with an ankle injury. The Bombers improved to 3-0 and will face the Argonauts in Toronto on Monday, July 4th.


The Virden Oil Capitals will open the 2022-23 Manitoba Junior Hockey League regular season schedule at home against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Friday, September 16th. The Neepawa Titans play their season opener on the 16th against the Turnbull Trophy champion Kings in Dauphin.


The Western Hockey League champion Edmonton Oil Kings lost their round robin finale 4-2 to the Ontario Hockey League champion Hamilton Bulldogs and were eliminated at the Memorial Cup in New Brunswick. The host St. John Sea Dogs play their round robin finale tonight against the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champion Shawinigan Cataractes.


Austin Clyne homered and drove in three runs as the Boissevain Centennials defeated the Brewers 9-1 in Wawanesa. The first place Deloraine Royals shutout the Hamiota Red Sox 5-0. The Virden Oilers game against the Rockets in Reston and the Oak River Dodgers game against the Comets in Rivers were postponed.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes game in Lincoln was postponed. The Fish and Saltdogs will play a pair of seven inning games today.
