The 2022 Manitoba Junior Hockey League Draft takes place today at 3 p.m. The Virden Oil Capitals have the seventh pick in round one. The Winkler Flyers own the number one overall pick.


Boissevain/Wawanesa will face Garden City in the semifinals of the Provincial High School Baseball Championship. The Broncos defeated Birtle/Shoal Lake/Strathclair 9-1 in the quarterfinals.


Boissevain will meet Brandon Vincent Massey in the quarterfinals at the Provincial High School Fastpitch Championship in Brandon. The Broncos had a win and a loss in the round robin. Boissevain beat Carman/Miami 7-1 and lost 8-1 to the Beliveau Barracudas. The Broncos then defeated the St. Joachim Braves of La Broquerie 8-2 to qualify for the quarterfinals.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes gave up four two-out runs in the top of the seventh inning and lost 10-8 to the Lincoln Saltdogs. Max Murphy homered twice for the Fish who lead 5-0 after the first inning.


Evan Nachtigall of Wheat City and Ryden Hargreaves of Shilo are into the quarterfinals at the Provincial Men’s Match Play Championship at Quarry Oaks near Steinbach. Nachtigall downed Keaton Jameson of Brandon 3 & 2 while Hargreaves beat Trey Ross of Rossmere on the 19th hole. Nachtigall will meet Marco Trstemjak of Elmhurst and Hargreaves will take on Mark Di Ubaldo of Breezy Bend. Cala Korman of Killarney will face Veronica van der Meer of Winnipeg in the round of 16 in the Women's Division.


The University of Manitoba Bisons men's golf team finished the Canadian University/College Golf Championship in Bromont, Quebec in 17th place. Stefan Lavallee finished at plus five, Connor Stewart was plus 18, Cole Peters and Brent Ingram were plus 20 and Lachlan Allerton was plus 37.
