The Winnipeg Jets franchise record eight-game win streak and 14-game points streak came to an end Saturday night at Canada Life Centre. Samuel Ersson made 35 saves and Cam Atkinson scored both Philadelphia goals as the Flyers defeated Winnipeg 2-0. Connor Hellebuyck faced 36 shots in net for the Jets. It’s Winnipeg’s first regulation loss since December 12th.


Canada will play for bronze at the 2024 World Women’s U18 Hockey Championship Sunday in Zug, Switzerland. Anezka Cabelova scored twice and Aneta Senkova made 45 saves as Czechia downed Canada 4-2. Chloe Primerano of North Vancouver and Stryker Zablocki of Prince Albert did the goal scoring for Team Canada who will face Finland in the bronze medal game. Czechia will take on the United States in the gold medal game.


Ivy Perkin scored in regulation and potted the shootout winner as the Westman Wildcats shaded the Pembina Valley Hawks 3-2 in Carman. Kelsey Huibers also scored for the Wildcats.


Drew Shiels had a goal and two assists and Micky Gross made 27 saves as the Southwest Cougars blanked the Winnipeg Bruins 4-0 at the Southdale Arena. Regan Anderson, Jackson Hofer and Tyson Draper also scored for the Cougars.


Liam Bechthold made 29 saves as the Virden Oil Capitals edged the Selkirk Steelers 3-2. Braeden Lewis, Mashall Light and Nolan Chastko with his 20th of the season did the goal scoring for the Oil Capitals who won their seventh in a row.


In the Westman High School Hockey League – Josh Archambault scored 3:46 into overtime to lift Killarney/Wawanesa past Boissevain/Souris/Deloraine/Waskada 7-6. Avery Sameuls had a hat trick for the Broncos. Ozy Atkinson scored twice and Jaden Trotz had four assists as Minnedosa/Erickson downed Swan Valley 6-1. Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur beat Roblin/Grandview/Gilbert Plains 6-1. Preston Shearer had two goals and an assist for the Wildcats.


Tanner Clyne had a hat trick and Tyson Pringle chipped in with three assists as the Boissevain Border Kings defeated the Gladstone Lakers 9-2. Elsewhere in the Tiger Hills Hockey League – Mark Derlago had three goals and two assists as the Hartney Blues beat the Deloraine Royals 9-2. Joben Smith had two goals and three assists as the Rivers Jets downed the Carberry Plainsmen 6-2.


The Manitoba Moose dropped a 4-1 decision to Laval. Lias Andersson had a pair of goals for the Rocket. Kristian Reichel had the lone goal for the Moose who have lost nine of their last ten games.


Ottawa and Boston were winners in the Professional Women’s Hockey League. Gabby Hughes scored twice as Ottawa defeated Toronto 5-1. Deloraine’s Ashton Bell drew an assist on Daryl Watts' goal with 16 seconds left in the first period which extended Ottawa’s lead to 3-0. Amanda Pelkey scored 2:17 into overtime to lift Boston past Montreal 3-2.
