The Brandon Wheat Kings gave up five unanswered goals and lost 5-3 to the Victoria Royals. Trae Johnson, Rylen Roersma and Evan Groening on a second period penalty shot did the goal scoring for the Wheat Kings who reached the midway point of their eight-game road trip with three wins and one loss. The Winnipeg Ice defeated the Cougars 4-1 in Prince George. Matthew Savoie, Ty Nash and Evan Friesen scored power play goals for the Ice.


Vincent Massey scored five times in the second period and added five more in the third in the Vikings 13-2 victory over the Crocus Plainsmen. Vincent Massey captain Porter Ewert had five goals and an assist while Branigan Ferland had a hat trick. Merrick Smart and Will Galatiuk replied for the Plainsmen.


The Southwest Cougars lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Eastman Selects in Souris. Nate Robson had a pair of second period power play goals for the Cougars.


The Westman Wildcats dropped a 2-1 decision to the Interlake Lightning in Hartney. Camryn Falloon had both goals for the Lightning. Kelsey Huibers replied for the defending Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League champions.


The Manitoba Moose lost their American Hockey League season opener Saturday at Canada Life Centre. Brett Seney scored in overtime to lift the Rockford IceHogs past Manitoba 5-4. Leon Gawanke, Daniel Torgersson, Kristian Reichel and Winnipeg Jets 2021 first round draft pick Chaz Lucius did the goal scoring for the Moose.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers dropped a 40-32 decision to the B.C. Lions in Vancouver. Winnipeg quarterback Dru Brown, who got the start when Zach Collaros was given the night off, threw three touchdown passes but also tossed two pick-sixes. The Bombers (14-3) have already clinched first place in the CFL West Division and will play their regular season finale Friday, October 28th against the Lions at IG Field.


The Miller Aces of Altona and Winkler’s Garden Valley Zodiacs captured the Provincial A-AA-AAA High School Soccer championships. The Miller Aces edged Garden Valley 2-1 in the girls final in Birtle. GVC defeated the Swan Valley Tigers 7-1 in the boys final in Rossburn.
