The Killarney Shamrocks, Rivers Jets, Gladstone Lakers and Wawanesa Jets were winners in the Tiger Hills Hockey League playoffs Wednesday night. Isaac Friesen scored twice and Reid Gow had four assists as the Shamrocks downed Melita 8-1. Lucas Oliver had the lone goal for the Bisons. Joben Smith scored the go-ahead goal with 20 seconds left in regulation to lift Rivers past Deloraine 3-2. Colby Chen and Brendin Hammond replied for the Royals. Those were the first games in their respective best-of-three West Division quarterfinals. Jacy Kennedy had three goals and two helpers as the Lakers defeated Carberry 8-1. Jackson Stephens scored for the Plainsmen. Brian Harris and Kain Shearer each had a goal and an assist as Wawanesa beat Cartwright 3-1. Sean Haight had the lone goal for the Clippers. Those were the first games in their East Division quarterfinals.


In the Westman High School Hockey League - Logan Chapman had four helpers as the Dauphin Clippers downed Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur 7-1. Dalton Ternovetsky scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift Reston/Elkhorn/Melita/Pierson past Vincent Massey 3-2. Koda Rocheleau, Raphael Mowbray and Tyler Huston scored two goals each as the Major Pratt Trojans beat Roblin/Grandview/Gilbert Plains 6-4.


Paige Kozak scored her second goal of the game in double overtime to lift the defending Manitoba Female U18 AAA Hockey League champion Westman Wildcats past the Central Plains Capitals 3-2 in game one of their best-of-five quarterfinal Wednesday night in Hartney. Brooklyn Frankin had the other Westman goal. Grace Glover made 16 saves in net for the Wildcats. Game two goes Friday night in Portage. 


The Southwest Cougars have clinched a playoff spot. Luke MacKenzie had a goal and two assists as Southwest downed the Yellowhead Chiefs 6-2 at Tundra Oil & Gas Place in Virden. Jesse Brown, Nate Robson, Bryan Laing, Dawson Andries and Nicholas Cullen also scored for the Cougars. Southwest and Eastman are tied for seventh place in the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League. The Cougars and Selects both have 42 points and two games left in the regular season schedule.


The Winnipeg Ice are the first Eastern Conference team to clinch a Western Hockey League playoff spot. Matthew Savoie had a goal and an assist as the Ice downed the Swift Current Broncos 5-3. 


The Manitoba Moose opened their eight-game homestand with a 4-2 victory over the Iowa Wild at Canada Life Centre. Jansen Harkins scored twice for Manitoba and Arvid Holm made 21 saves.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Canadian defensive back Charles-Antoine Beaulieu. The Quebec City native joins the Blue Bombers after a superb career with the Rouge et Or where he was part of two Vanier Cup championship teams, winning in 2018 and 2022. Beaulieu appeared in five regular-season games for Laval in 2022 registering 14 tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss and two fumble recoveries.
