The Miniota/Elkhorn C-Hawks scored four first period goals en route to a 8-4 victory over the Melita Bisons, Josh Martin, Brad Bowles and Taylor Sanheim had two goals each for the defending Tiger Hills Hockey League champions. Zeanen Ziemer and Curtis Gardham also scored for the C-Hawks. Ryan Crepeele and Nial Mills had two goals each for the hometown Bisons. Lucas Oliver chipped in with three assists. 


The Neepawa Tigers and Major Pratt Trojans were winners in the Westman High School Hockey League. Tarek Lapointe and Riley Davie each had a hat trick as the Tigers downed the Sandy Bay Badgers 14-2. Josh Edwards had a pair of goals and Raphael Mowbray had three helpers in the Trojans 4-2 victory over the Dauphin Clippers. 


Ivy Perkin scored twice and Hallie Franklin had three assists as the Westman Wildcats shutdown the Central Plains Capitals 5-0. Reese Schutte, Paige Crossley and captain Kelsey Huibers also scored for the Wildcats. Kylie Hack made 16 saves in recording the shutout. 


Boston and Minnesota were winners in the Professional Women's Hockey League on Wednesday night. Loren Gabel scored her second goal of the game with 1:50 left in the third period as Boston shaded Toronto 3-2. Ste. Anne's Jocelyne Larocque drew an assist on Hannah Miller's first period goal for Toronto. Kristen Campbell of Brandon stopped 19 shots in net for Toronto. Susanna Tapani scored 1:57 into overtime to lift Minnesota past Ottawa 3-2.


The Winnipeg Football Club announced the replacement of the stadium turf for the upcoming 2024 season. Installing new turf at IG Field is part of the team's commitment to providing the best possible conditions for football and soccer players. Field Turf Vertex- Core 1 is the highest quality turf system and includes CoolPlay TPE infill, designed to reduce heat build-up in the summer months. The turf will be FIFA Quality Pro certified upon completion. "We are thrilled to partner with FieldTurf for this important upgrade to IG Field," said Wade Miller, President and CEO of the Winnipeg Football Club. "This investment is part of our ongoing capital improvement projects to the stadium and will be a great new surface for our players as we prepare to host the 2025 Grey Cup." The project is underway and is slated for completion in early May, just in time for the 2024 season; to provide ample time for completion, Valour FC matches and Blue Bombers games are scheduled to begin the last week of May.
