It's day one of Golf Manitoba's Provincial Women's Amateur Championship and Provincial Men's Mid-Amateur championship at the Minnedosa Golf & Country Club. Cala Korman of Killarney and Payton Oakden of Wheat City are competing in the Women's Amateur. Jeri Lafleche of Niakwa is the two-time reigning champion. Drew Jones, Brad Pardy, Nolan Tutkaluk, Keaton Jameson, Braydon Nault, Jake Cullen, Curtis Sitko and Trevor Dickie of Shilo, Thomas Friesen of Wheat City and Ross Sheard of Brandon are playing in the Mid-Am. Patrick Perrin of Elmhurst is the defending champion.

Owen Wareham had four hits including a home run and drove in five as the visiting Rivers Comets defeated the Oak River Dodgers 14-3. Scott Beever scattered seven hits and struck out 14 in recording the win. The Comets are 10-4 and in second place in the South West Baseball League. The first place Boissevain Centennials have a 12-1 record. 

The Winnipeg Goldeyes and Sioux City Explorers split a doubleheader at Lewis & Clark Park. The Fish won the opener 9-0. Roby Enríquez belted a bases clearing double, and Rob Emery smacked a grand slam home run in the Goldeyes seven-run seventh inning. The Explorers held Winnipeg to just six hits and took the second game 4-1. The Goldeyes wrap up their nine-game road trip tonight in Sioux City.

The Winnipeg Jets four-day Development Camp begins today at Hockey for all Centre. The 35 players attending camp feature three goaltenders, 11 defencemen, and 21 forwards. The camp attendees include 17 players who were drafted by the Jets and 15 undrafted players. Nine of the 35 players at camp (Dylan Anhorn, Colby Barlow, Carson Golder, Dmitri Kuzmin, Brad Lambert, Connor Levis, Chaz Lucius, Thomas Milic, and Danny Zhilkin) have appeared for the Manitoba Moose.
