The division finals are set in the Tiger Hills Hockey League playoffs. The Killarney Shamrocks will meet the Miniota/Elkhorn C-Hawks in the West Division final and the Gladstone Lakers will face the Minnedosa Bombers in the East. The Shamrocks and Lakers completed three-game sweeps of their respective best-of-five division semifinals on Wednesday night. Jagger Thomas scored a pair of third period power play goals and Brian Archibald made 38 saves as Killarney defeated Virden 5-2. Isaac Friesen, Ryan Howatt and Reid Gow also found the back of the net for the Shamrocks. Colin Cook and Ryan Colon replied for the Oil Kings. Jesse Toth scored four times and Jory Geddes had a goal and seven assists as Gladstone downed Neepawa 8-3. Stephen Kleysen had the other three Lakers goals. Lennon Carr scored twice for the Farmers while Corbin Mariash had the other.


The Dauphin Clippers are into round two of the Westman High School Hockey League playoffs. Jackson Buchanan scored in overtime to lift Dauphin past Glenboro/Carberry/Baldur 4-3. The Clippers swept the best-of-three quarterfinal in two straight. Myles Willerton potted the OT winner on the power play as the Neepawa Tigers shaded Birtle/Shoal Lake/Rossburn 7-6 in game one of their series. Koda Rocheleau had two goals and an assist as the Major Pratt Trojans downed Roblin/Grandview/Gilbert Plains 7-2 and Tyler Robertson had two goals and an assist as the Boissevain/Souris Broncos beat the Sandy Bay Badgers 7-5 in game one of their consolation quarterfinals.


The Brandon Wheat Kings scored three times in the first period and added three more in the second en route to a 7-3 victory over the Warriors in Moose Jaw. Rylen Roersma had a hat trick for the Wheat Kings. Nolan Flamand, Nate Danielson, Ben Thornton and Anthony Wilson also scored for Brandon. Nicholas Jones made 25 saves in net for the Wheat Kings. The Winnipeg Ice gave up two goals in each period and lost 6-4 to the Tigers in Medicine Hat. Easton Armstrong, Zack Ostapchuk, Matthew Savoie and Connor McClennon with his 40th of the season did the goal scoring for the Ice. 


Avery Pampolina of Winnipeg captured bronze in Judo Wednesday at the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island. Manitoba's medal count is nine with three gold, four silver and two bronze.


Ella Werebiski of Vincent Massey High School in Brandon, Noah Ouimet of Gabrielle Roy and Luke Lodewyks and Fiona Brown of Oak Park were recipients of the Dr. Dale Iwanoczko Memorial Volleyball Scholarships. To be eligible for the $1,000 scholarships, a student must be proceeding to a post-secondary institution and have a minimum 75% academic average. The individual must have proficiency in volleyball, while academic standing, and involvement in their school and community are also considered.
