It’s day one of the Provincial A, AA & AAA High School Varsity Volleyball Championships. The Boissevain Broncos are at the AA boys championship in Ile des Chenes. Deloraine girls and Wawanesa boys are at the A championship in Fisher River. Neelin boys and girls are at the Provincial AAA championships in Dauphin. 


The Virden Oil Capitals dropped a 4-3 decision to the Neepawa Titans Wednesday night at Tundra Oil & Gas Place. Hayden Stocks potted the winner 24 seconds into overtime for the Titans who have won six of their last seven games. Nolan Chastko scored his 16th and 17th goals of the season in the second period for the Caps. Grady Lane had the other Virden goal. 


The Winnipeg Jets meet the Edmonton Oilers tonight at Canada Life Centre. The Jets have lost back-to-back games after their five-game winning streak came to an end Sunday in Nashville.


The B.C. Lions will host the Ottawa Redblacks in a regular season game in Victoria next season. The game, dubbed ``Touchdown Pacific'', will be played Saturday August 31st at Royal Athletic Park. It will be the sixth instalment of the CFL's ``Touchdown Series'' of neutral-site games, but the first in Victoria. The other five were held in the Atlantic provinces.
