Jay Doyle is in a tie for ninth place at the midway point of the 60th Canadian Senior Men's Golf Championship. Doyle was even par 72 Wednesday at the Red Deer Golf & Country Club and is plus four through 36 holes. Mike Lohner of Southlake, Texas has the lead at minus five. Doyle and 2022 Provincial Senior Men's champion Rob Oliphant were the only Manitobans to make the cut. Oliphant was three-over par 75 yesterday and is plus 11. The cutline was plus 12. Kevin Nicholson was 82 and plus 20; Garth Collings was 83 and plus 20; Bill Moslenko was 87 and plus 24; Gordon Kroeker was 89 and plus 26 and Gerald Diamond was 83 and plus 27.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes plated five runs in the bottom of the third inning and defeated the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks 6-3 Wednesday night at Shaw Park in game one of the American Association's best-of-three West Division semifinal. Goldeyes starter Landen Bourassa picked up the win in his first career postseason start, allowing one earned run on four hits over seven innings. Bourassa walked two and struck out three. Game two goes Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field. 


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added American receiver Kelvin McKnight to the practice roster. National receiver Luke McMillan was released from the practice roster. The 11-1 Blue Bombers face the Saskatchewan Roughriders Saturday in the Banjo Bowl at IG Field. Winnipeg shaded Saskatchewan 20-18 in the Labour Day Classic this past Sunday in Regina and clinched a playoff spot for the sixth straight season.
