Gord Hudson & Randy Wozny of Southwood captured Golf Manitoba's Senior Men's 4-Ball Championship Monday at the Minnewasta Golf & Country Club in Morden. Hudson & Wozny combined to card a six-under par 66, edging Gordon Kroeker & Dale Register of Pine Ridge by one shot. Ron Cornell & Keith Fawcett of Clear Lake were two-under par 70 and finished in a tie for third place. Myles Hubbard & Mike Martin of Shilo were even par 72; Bruce Ray & Craig Richardson of Wheat City were 75; Gene Banks & Fred Riddle of Clear Lake were 80; Dwight Kearns & Pete Lepage of Shilo were 82 and Kenn Dueck & Paul Solon of Wheat City were 87. 42 teams competed in the championship. 


Team Manitoba plated five runs in the top of the fourth inning and added five more in the fifth and defeated Nova Scotia 13-2 Monday morning in the 7th place game at Baseball Canada's 16U Girls Invitational Championship in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Ally Neufeld of Boissevain and Caitlyn Nickel of Brandon were on Team Manitoba's roster. 


Winnipeg Goldeyes starter RJ Martinez has been named American Association Pitcher of the Week. Martinez allowed just one run in 17 innings pitched over two starts last week, including a four-hit shutout – the first of his career – in a 2-0 win over the Kansas City Monarchs Saturday at Shaw Park. In his previous start on August 21st, the left-hander gave up one run over eight innings in a 2-0 loss to the Sioux Falls Canaries.


The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club, along with their American Hockey League affiliate, the Manitoba Moose, are pleased to announce a partnership with the Norfolk Admirals as the organization’s ECHL affiliate for the upcoming 2023-24 season. Sixteen players to suit up for the Moose last season played ECHL games in their careers. Ten of those players featured for both Manitoba and in the ECHL last season. The Jets lineup held one ECHL alumnus this season as Jansen Harkins played in the league during the 2017-18 campaign. Norfolk posted a 21-46-5 record in 2022-23, their seventh season in the ECHL. The Norfolk Admirals begin their first season as the ECHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose on Friday, October 20th when they travel to Savannah, Georgia for a game against the Ghost Pirates.


Kate Cameron won the Icebreaker Challenge at the Morris Curling Club. Cameron, Meghan Walter, Taylor McDonald and Mackenzie Elias scored four in the eighth end and defeated Delaney Strouse of Traverse City, Michigan 8-6 in the final. The Winnipeg foursome finished first in Pool A with a 3-0 record as they beat Shaela Hayward of Carman 5-4; Miranda Scheel of Fargo 8-4 and Sarah Anderson of Minneapolis 6-4. Cameron then shutout Kristy Watling of Winnipeg 6-0 in the semifinals.
