The Steinbach Pistons, Winkler Flyers, Virden Oil Capitals and Portage Terriers are all in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s weekly Top 20 rankings. The MJHL's East Division leading Pistons moved up a notch from number three to number two. The Flyers moved from number five to four. The West Division leading Oil Capitals stayed at number eight while the Terriers are number 17. The Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Collingwood Blues took over as the number one ranked team in the country ending the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Flin Flon Bombers 15-week run at the top.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed American receiver K.J. Hill. The Little Rock, Arkansas native was selected in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers. He appeared in 50 career games for the Ohio State Buckeyes and set the school’s all-time receptions record with 201 – previously held by David Boston. Hill recorded a reception in 48 straight games tying a school record. Hill finished his college career with 2,332 career receiving yards and 20 touchdowns including 10 as a senior in 2019. A co-captain as a senior, Hill won three consecutive Big Ten championships with Ohio State from 2017-2019.


The Manitoba Soccer Association is pleased to announce Tavio Ciccarelli, a 17-year-old former Winnipegger, has been selected to represent Canada at the upcoming 2024 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship Qualifiers in Trinidad & Tobago. Ciccarelli, now playing in England for Sheffield United’s U18s, was a former player at Bonivital Soccer Club from 2014-2018. Ciccarelli also took part in the former Whitecaps Academy Manitoba Pre-Prospects Program during his time in Winnipeg. Canada’s U20 Men’s team is currently taking part in a three-game group stage in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. This serves as a qualifier to the 2024 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship this summer.
