The Western Hockey League announced the rescheduling of two Winnipeg Ice road games. The Ice will meet the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday, January 15th and the Swift Current Broncos on Tuesday, January 18th. Ice home games against the Regina Pats this weekend have been postponed due to capacity restrictions. The Western Hockey League also announced that the Edmonton Oil Kings, Everett Silvertips, Medicine Hat Tigers, Prince Albert Raiders, Red Deer Rebels, Saskatoon Blades, Spokane Chiefs and Winnipeg Ice have all been cleared to resume all team activities in accordance with the league's COVID-19 protocols. Those teams join the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Moose Jaw Warriors, Portland Winterhawks, Regina Pats, Swift Current Broncos and Tri-City Americans who previously returned to team activities.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with offensive lineman Pat Neufeld. The 34-year-old Regina native returns to the Bombers for what will be his 11th Canadian Football League season and eighth with Winnipeg. A versatile lineman who made starts at both right guard and right tackle for the Grey Cup champion Bombers in 2021, Neufeld also earned the first all-star nominations in his career after being named to both the West Division and CFL All-Star teams. Neufeld appeared in 13 of the 14 regular season games and in both the West Final and Grey Cup, helping the Bombers lead the CFL in scoring, finish second in rushing while surrendering the fewest quarterback sacks. Neufeld was originally selected by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the fifth round of the 2010 CFL Draft and was acquired by the Bombers in a trade in 2013 for defensive end Alex Hall and a second-round pick in the 2014 draft. He has appeared in 119 regular-season games, 82 with the Bombers.
