The Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s West Division leading Virden Oil Capitals edged the Waywayseecappo Wolverines 3-2. Josh Lehto, Brett Sabel and Nolan Chastko with his 24th of the season did the goal scoring for the Oil Capitals.


The Winnipeg Jets wrap up their three-game road trip tonight when they meet the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Jets are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Monday.


The Manitoba Moose dropped a 2-1 decision to the Chicago Wolves at Canada Life Centre. Ville Heinola had the lone goal for the Moose who have lost 10 straight games.


Emerance Maschmeyer made 30 saves as Ottawa defeated Toronto 3-1 in the lone Professional Women’s Hockey League game. Ottawa defender Ashton Bell of Deloraine assisted on Lexie Adzija’s shorthanded empty net goal with 43 seconds left in the third period.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced the signing of seven American players – receivers Keric Wheatfall, Braxton Burmeister, Peter Afful and Oliver Martin, kicker Jose Borregales, linebacker/defensive back Marcus Hillman and defensive end Ali Fayad.
