The Winnipeg Blue Bombers won their pre-season finale 25-16 over the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Regina.  Quarterback Dakota Prokup threw fourth quarter touchdown passes of 78 yards to Whop Philyor and 32 yards to Tavaris Harrison. Quarterback Dru Brown also found the end zone on a one-yard run. The Winnipeg defense forced five Saskatchewan turnovers. The Bombers and Riders were originally slated to play May 23rd but the stalled negotiations between the CFL and the Players' Association over a new collective bargaining agreement forced the postponement of the game. Winnipeg will open the 2022 CFL season against the Ottawa RedBlacks at IG Field on Friday, June 10th. 


The 2022 Canadian University/College Golf Championships begin today in Bromont, Quebec. There are 18 teams competing for the Men’s Division including the University of Manitoba Bisons. The Bisons golf team consists of Cole Peters & Stefan Lavallee of Steinbach, Lachlan Allerton & Connor Stewart of Winnipeg and Brent Ingram of West St. Paul. 


The Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Winnipeg Blues have hired Alex Mandolidis as the hockey club's new head coach and general manager. Mandolidis replaces Taras McMcEwen who guided the team to a 29-22-1-2 record and third place finish in the MJHL's East Division this past season. The Blues were eliminated by the Winkler Flyers in the opening round of the playoffs. 


The Winnipeg Goldeyes home game against the Cleburne Railroaders was rained out Tuesday. The two teams will play a pair of seven inning games today at Shaw Park starting at 5:35 p.m.
