The Vincent Massey Vikings have advanced to the Westman High School Hockey League final.  Daylan Duncalfe scored his second goal of the game in overtime to lift Massey past Hamiota/Rivers/Elton/Strathclair 3-2. Josh Ransom also scored for the Vikings who swept the best-of-three semifinal in two straight. Ethan King and Chael Rozdeba replied for the Huskies who led 1-0 and 2-0 at the period breaks.


The Miniota/Elkhorn C-Hawks face the Virden Oil Kings tonight in Hamiota in game three of the Tiger Hills Hockey League's West Division final. The C-Hawks lead the best-of-five series two games to none. Game three was moved to Hamiota due to issues with the Elkhorn Arena's ice plant. Tanner Milliken will have the broadcast of game three on CJRB Radio 1220 beginning with the opening face-off at 8 p.m.


The Brandon Wheat Kings wrapped up their five-game road trip with a 4-0 loss to Saskatoon. Egor Sidorov had three goals and an assist for the Western Hockey League's Eastern Conference leading Blades.


Briane Harris was ineligible to compete in the national women's championship because she had tested positive for a banned substance. The Winnipeg native was declared ineligible to compete in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary hours before her team skipped by Kerri Einarson played its opening game on February 16. Einarson's rink confirmed on social media Tuesday morning that Harris tested positive for a banned substance.


The 2023 Grey Cup provided economic gain for both the city of Hamilton and province of Ontario. According to a study by Sport Tourism Canada, the game and Grey Cup festival generated a net economic impact of 41.9 million dollars, including 35.4 million for Ontario and 29.2 million for Hamilton, which staged the game. The Montreal Alouettes defeated the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 28-24 at Tim Hortons Field.
