The round robin ends today at the Centennial Cup in Estevan. The Dauphin Kings meet the Soo Thunderbirds at 5 p.m. The Manitoba Junior Hockey League champions lost 2-1 in a shootout to Flin Flon on Tuesday and are tied with the Bombers for first place in Group B. Both teams have seven points. Logan Calder had the lone goal for the Kings.


Team Canada will face Sweden in the quarterfinals at the 2022 World Men's Hockey Championship Thursday in Tampere, Finland. Pierre-Luc Dubois scored twice as Canada downed France 7-1 and finished the preliminary round in third place in Group A with a 15 points. Dylan Cozens, Eric O'Dell, Damon Severson, Max Comtois and Brandon's Zack Whitecloud also scored for the Canadians. The three other quarterfinals feature Finland against Slovakia, Switzerland will take on the United States and Germany will face the Czech Republic.


RJ Martinez pitched seven shutout innings scattering six hits, walked one and struck out five as the Winnipeg Goldeyes beat Sioux Falls 3-1. Martinez, who improved to 2-0 on the season, has not allowed an earned run in 13 innings to begin his professional career. 


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers released quarterback Jake Floriea and defensive lineman Inoke Moala from their training camp roster. There is a report that the CFL has included a $1 million ratification bonus to the Players’ Association as part of its new proposal to the union. The deadline for players to accept the deal is Thursday at midnight ET. Commissioner Randy Ambrosie also indicated training camps will shut down if the players reject the league’s latest offer.The 2022 pre-season is scheduled to begin Friday. The CFL and CFLPA reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement last Wednesday, ending a four-day player strike that started following the expiration of the previous CBA. The players voted against the deal on Monday.
