St. Patrick’s Day festivities in Killarney this past Saturday brought out people of all ages.

The Shamrock Centre was the host site for the weekend program that started with the curling bonspiel on Friday night.

April Archambault works at the Shamrock Centre and helped coordinate the program that included a full day of events on Saturday. “We had the stew lunch, Irish Dancers and a large crowd showed up to watch the Bubble Man.”

She said the parking lots and nearby streets were filled with vehicles which is a good sign lots of people were at the St. Pats festivities.

“We know we had well over 1,000 people here, so we were pleased, and everyone seemed to have a great time,” said Archambault.

Organizers are looking for ways to expand the celebration.

“I’d love to see more events and more people taking part. If we spread things out and move outdoors because that’s what happened years ago and get a few new ideas and we’ll see what we can do.”

Organizers say for St. Patrick’s Day to expand more community groups would have to get involved along with the businesses.

Up next for the Shamrock Centre will be the spring break program for kids.
