The Canadian Wheat Board is anticipating strong wheat and barley prices for the next crop year.

The CWB released its first Pool Return Outlook for the 2011-12 crop year at the GrainWorld conference in Winnipeg on Monday.

Number 1 CWRS wheat at 13.5 percent protein is forecast at $352 per tonne or $9.58 per bushel, well above the February PRO for the current crop year, which currently sits at $236 per tonne (or $6.42 per bushel.)

Pool A feed barley is forecast at $257 per tonne, compared with the current year forecast of $150 per tonne.

Designated barley values are also significantly higher in the new crop PRO.
