It's mid-August and hard to admit that programming is coming to a close for summer rec programs.  Carol Williams is Rec Director and Park Manager for Souris-Glenwood.

Williams says the strong trend of families camping during summer holidays has continued at their Victoria Park.

"The park and the pool have been pretty steady.  The campground in particular has been quite full for most of the season. The last couple of years, it's been trending that way. Camping is one of those things that people could actually do during the pandemic."

"Lessons are going well things are going pretty good," she adds. "We are certainly seeing more in terms of the lessons and public swimming has been steady.  I think before people were fairly limited to how far they could travel, so they stuck close to home.  But this summer families are travelling further afield."

The Souris pool will be open for a few more weeks, with Sunday, September 4th being the last day open for public swim.

With summer programs coming to a close, winter recreation programs are gearing up.

"We're starting up our ice plant on August 22nd, so we have rentals starting about the 28th of August.  So, we'll be overlapping those two seasons!" notes Williams.
