Museums of Boissevain are excited to open their doors to the public this weekend!

The Wildlife Museum and Moncur Gallery will be featuring their incredible animals on display, as well as some new additions, and of course some favorites from previous years.

Administrative Assistant for the Municipality of Boissevain-Morton, Melissa Peters, says there's a lot of work that takes place behind the scenes to prepare each of the museums for the summer tourism season.

"May-long weekend is often that big kick-off for us over at the Wildlife Museum," she says, "and Beckoning Hills Museum will also be opening this Saturday which will be very exciting!"

Rain or shine, Perkins says there will be lots of things to check out.

"We've got the signature wildlife collection of Irvin Goodon's as always.  That is always a hit!  We've got the Moncur People of the Plains Gallery," explains Perkins.  "We've also got the model railway that we've been working on, and there's been a lot of work that's gone into that one this past winter thanks to many volunteers and all of their hard work."

Perkins says there's been a new addition to the world of trains at the museum this summer.

"I'll give you a little bit of a sneak peek," she says. "We'll be running some tours of that model railway collection and this year we actually have a special new train set on loan from England to our museum for a couple of years. So, that is a pretty neat addition, and you'll want to be sure to come in and check that out as well!"

The partnership with the Boissevain-Morton Arts Council continues as local artisans share their talents in the front entrance of the Wildlife Museum with the Artisans Market.  "I've seen some of the pieces coming in this week and they're absolutely beautiful!"

Tommy the Turtle reaches his 50th Birthday this summer and a tribute to the giant turtle that stands at the southern entrance to Boissevain will be starting this coming weekend!

And there's more!
