Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and Selkirk-Interlake MP James Bezan announced almost $600 thousand in support for the malting industry this morning.
The federal government is investing $410 thousand in the Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre in Winnipeg. The Malting Industry Association of Canada will receive $155 thousand and the Brewing and Malting Barley Research Institute will receive $32 thousand.
The three groups will use the funding to implement a strategic plan for marketing Canadian malt barley around the world.
