The Travelling Art Gallery is making its rounds throughout Western Manitoba.  It has spent the past few weeks at Virden's Arts Mosaic's gallery in the iconic CPR Station Historic Centre in downtown Virden.

The 20 art pieces that travels with the exhibition was selected at the 44th Westman Juried Art Show that took place in early spring of 2023 in Carberry.  Ninety entries by 52 artists entered the Juried Art Show.  From these ten pieces were selected to participate in the Rural & Northern Art Show sponsored by the Manitoba Arts Network.  It was held this fall at the Buhler Gallery, Winnipeg, after a 3-year hiatus due to pandemic closures, showcasing the top ten pieces from each of the five regions across the province.  This was the first post-covid in-person show since the pandemic.

Artists from across the province are invited to work on their next art piece to enter into the 2024 Juried Art Shows hosted by their local Arts Councils.

In 2024, the 45th Annual Westman Juried Art Show will be hosted by the Hamiota Mid-West Art Club at the Kenton Community Hall. The Show will be installed on Friday, April 26 and a public reception held on Sunday, April 28 at 1:30 p.m. Jurors are Leona Herzog of Winnipeg and Ben Davis of Brandon.

Since 1979, the Westman Juried Art Show is an annual event organized by the Arts West Council and hosted by various arts clubs and councils in the Westman Region of Manitoba.

The Juried Art Show highlights amateur artists. Westman Region artists may submit up to two works for adjudication by the jurors.

Awards include: Travelling Gallery selection, Honourable Mentions, People's Choice and Youth Awards. Jurors select 20 works from the Juried Show to form a Travelling Gallery which will travel through communities in the Westman Region over the following year.

The purpose of the Juried Art Show is to provide amateur and emerging artists a venue for professional critique (artists receive an individual critique from each juror) and an opportunity to present their work to the general public.

Westman Juried Art Show information brochure with entry form will be available in January by downloading from the ArtsWest Council website or at your local arts council or by calling/texting 204-726-0493.
