Residents in the Turtle Mountain School Division can expect a 3.5 per cent increase on their tax bill.
The school division is gearing up to pass it's 2011-12 budget and will hold a public meeting March 9th in Killarney.
Board Chair Garth Nichol outlines why the increase is needed.

Nichol adds the board is proposing to cut teacher ratios a small amount at the highschool level.
He notes the government is also encouraging school divisions to hold the line on teacher salaries for the upcoming school year.
Annual expenditures in the Turtle Mountain School Division run around 11 million dollars.
