Souris-Glenwood hosted a special Remembrance Day ceremony yesterday at the evening U18 AAA Hockey game.

The Southwest Cougars hosted the Brandon Wheat Kings on the ice, with dignitaries in the stands, including MP Larry Maguire, MLA Glen Simard, and Brandon Mayor Jeff Fawcett.

The Last Post took place, Mike Waddell in song, and the reading of Flanders Field was also part of the evening ceremony prior to the dropping of the puck.

The two teams' management and players were also honored to have Canadian Forces veterans in attendance.

Councillor for the RM of Sifton, Scott Phillips says the ceremony was short but powerful.

"It showed the importance of teamwork whether it's the Canadian Forces, or municipal officials working together with their provincial and federal counterparts, or hockey teammates.  Working together is the key to success."

"The western district of RM's is very united, and work together for regional issues," continues Phillips.  "It's an absolute honor to be one of the AMM (Association of Manitoba Municipalities) Western Directors."
