A high water level and wind warning has been issued for Southern Manitoba.

A strong storm system has dropped 20 to 40 millimeters of rain. By Wednesday night Environment Canada says another 20 to 40 millimeters of rain could fall over the Portage, Morden and Ste. Rose regions.

In Western Manitoba 10 to 15 centimetres of snowfall is expected. Up to 25 cm is possible over the higher elevations of the Riding, Duck, and Turtle Mountains.

This storm is accompanied by northerly winds that could gust up to 80 to 90 kilometres per hour and may continue through to Wednesday afternoon.

Manitoba Water Stewardship reports that water levels and flows are increasing and are expected to continue rising in most rivers and creeks within western and southern Manitoba.

This includes the Red, Assiniboine, Pembina, Swan and Little Saskatchewan rivers.  Some of the rivers flowing into Lake Manitoba from the western side are also rising.
