Most of Boissevain will be without water for about a four hour period on Monday.

A water main leak discovered in Boissevain on Friday will be fixed Monday, April 10th.

**As a result, Boissevain School and nursery school have been cancelled for Monday. School officials are preparing to have drinking water for Tuesday. Teachers have also been told to stay home Monday.**

Boissevain Utility Department has located a water main leak on Stephen Street. This leak will require water to be shut off to repair the line. A planned water outage will occur on Monday, April 10 from approximately 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The planned outage will affect all utility users with the exception of those in the southeast corner: from Johnson Street east to Aikman, and from South Railway south to Mountain Street.

Please be aware, once water has been turned back on, a boil water advisory will be in effect.

Tips to prepare for the water outage and boil water advisory:

• Fill pots on the stove with water for cooking.

• Fill potable water containers for drinking. Assume about one gallon of drinking water per person per day.

• Fill bathtubs with water and use buckets to flush toilets. A toilet will flush when approximately a gallon of water is dumped into the bowl.

• During the water outage try not to operate the water faucets. This will prevent air from entering your plumbing.

• Boil Water Advisory Fact Sheet For Manitoba Water System Users https://www.gov.mb.ca/sd/waterstewardship/odw/public-info/fact_sheets/pdf/pr_5_factsheet_boil_water_advisory_1.pdf

• All commercial, public and permitted facilities (ex: restaurants, health care facilities, day cares, personal care homes and other private facilities that provide food and water services) must follow water use recommendations from the Boil Water Advisory.

The Municipality will provide updates as they become available via Connect-Boissevain, social media and boissevain.ca.
