RCMP have released crime statistics for April of 2022 and most of the number are down when compared to April of 2021.

West District calls to RCMP dropped 24% (5,223 to 3,952)

In Manitoba East District, there were decreases in all categories, while Manitoba North District had increases in all categories except Drug Enforcement and Common Police Activities. Manitoba West District experienced decreases in all except for Crimes against Person and Crimes against Property in April 2022 over April 2021.

Overall, between April 2021 and April 2022, the category decreased 15% (from 587 to 499 occurrences), with the highest decreases in Suspicious Person/Vehicle/Property down 31% (255 to 177), and Breach of Peace dropping 26% (141 to 105). The highest increase was in the Wellbeing Checks category, increasing 49% (from 73 to 109).

Crimes against Person

Overall, the category only increased by 1% (304 to 307) with Assaults increasing 12% (170 to 190).

Crimes against Property

This category increased overall by 18% (490 to 577) with the highest individual increase of 82% in Theft under $5000 (90 to 164), while Break and Enters increased 30% (69 to 90), Fraud increased 27% (44 to 56) and Possession of Stolen goods went down 24% (21 to 16).

Drug Enforcement

Overall, Drug Enforcement decreased 21% (57 to 45) with Trafficking down 45% (57 to 45).
