The Brandon Wheat Kings will need to win back-to-back games over the Medicine Hat Tigers in order to advance to round two of the Western Hockey League playoffs.

The Wheat Kings gave up five second period goals and lost 9-5 to the Tigers in Medicine Hat. Emerson Etem had two goals and an assist for the Tigers who scored four of those second period goals in a 4:32 second span. Medicine Hat now leads the best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarterfinal three games to two. Brodie Melnychuk, Scott Glennie, Shayne Wiebe, Michael Ferland and Matt MacKay did the goal scoring for the Wheat Kings. Brandon goaltender Corbin Boes stopped 22 shots. Game six goes Monday night at MTS Centre in Winnipeg.
