A host of activities will be taking place at Virden's 33rd Indoor Rodeo and Wild West Daze coming up August 17-20th, both inside and outside the rodeo arena!

Two days of High School Rodeo take place Thursday & Friday mornings (Thursday 9:00 am & Friday 8:00 am), Main Rodeo shows take place Friday and Saturday, with Final Performance taking place Sunday.  Saturday and Sunday will feature 3-D Barrel Racing on the outside grounds, and a tie-down Jackpot most of Sunday leading up to the main rodeo.

"Where our rodeo falls it's kind of getting into the later part of the season so people who have been travelling the rodeos all over Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba for the year, this is kind of one of their last good chances to move up in the standings so they can get into the Canadian Cowboys Association Rodeo Finals," shares committee chair, Lonnie Brown.

But it's not only rodeo that rocks the town of Virdon on the third weekend in August!  Wild West Daze wakes up downtown Virden on the Thursday evening around 5:00-ish!

"That event has really grown for us," says Brown. "We have a whole bunch of food vendors coming out this year so we're pretty excited about that!  There will be lots of bouncy castles and activities for the kids to take in, and then a couple of live bands are going to be performing out there throughout the evening.  It's really turned into a great kick-off of for the weekend.  Everybody in this area gets pretty excited for rodeo weekend and Downtown Daze is just a great way to kick it off and get everybody in the rodeo weekend mode!"

"And there's something for everyone," he adds. "Maybe there are those who aren't into rodeo, or they can't be in the arena due to health reasons or other reasons, but that doesn't mean they can't take part in it and go and watch the parade or check out the demo derby or take in the downtown events. Saturday's tailgate party features live music and kids' activities including bouncy castles, so there's always lots to do even if rodeo is not your thing!"

Saturday night's dance has a life of its own, says Brown.  "It's one of those things that you look forward to all year and it's a good time to get out and see a lots of people and listen to some good music and have a good time!"

The demolition derby takes place Sunday afternoon and has a reputation of being a fast action smash'em crash'em show!  "We've had a couple of really great years here and we've got lots of people wanting to get down and see them crash them up.  So, it all ties together really, really well!"

"We're very excited about this year's event and we're very proud of the event we put on," shares Lonnie Brown. "We would love to have as many people out as can make it!  It's worth the trip out, no matter where you're from and we'd like to see people from far and wide.  There's lots ot take in throughout the weekend. So, come and check out our great little community!
