Twenty-two women in the Westman Region have been nominated for this year's Women of Distinction Awards, hosted by the YWCA in Brandon.

The annual event will honor the collective achievements, accomplishments and contributions of women throughout western Manitoba.

Board member and Event Chair, Jessica Saler, says the awards Gala is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Westman Chapter of the YWCA.  "This is a really great way to raise funds, but it's also our way to give back to the other women in Westman to celebrate them and what they do as well!"

Proceeds raised support women and families in need by providing shelter, programs and services at both the Westman Women’s Shelter and Meredith Place Transitional Shelter.

"It's so exciting to see that despite all the challenges that we face, especially coming out of Covid, that women in Westman are still achieving so many different things," shares Saler, "and that people are recognizing that and still wanting to celebrate and recognize them for their hard work!"

"They are all such fantastic nominees!  We are really excited to announce the winners at our upcoming awards gala," she adds.

Gala Date:  Thursday, March 9th

Location:  Western Manitoba Auditorium in Brandon.
