The Boissevain Border Kings scored six unanswered goals and defeated the Gladstone Lakers 8-3 in game one of the best-of-five Tiger Hills Hockey League final on Saturday night.

Zeinan Ziemer and Tyler Dittmer had two goals each for the hometown Border Kings while the rest went to Darren Bestland, Travis Mealy, Skylar Canada and Eric Herbal.

Jesse Paradis, Corby Henderson and Tyler Morwick replied for the defending champion Lakers who had a 3-2 lead after the first period. Boissevain led 4-3 after 40 minutes.

Game two goes Wednesday in Gladstone.
