The Boissevain Broncos season came to an end Saturday afternoon in Morris with a bronze medal winning performance.

The Broncos defeated the host Mavericks 6-1 in the third place game at the Provincial “AA” High School Hockey Championship.

“It feels pretty good,” said Broncos defenseman Brett Hammond who scored Boissevain's first two goals in the bronze medal game. “The boys battled all year long. It's just good to go out with a win,”

Austin Clyne, Leighton Holstein, Justin Patterson and Caleb Unrau also scored for the Broncos.

Rylan Rommelaere, who spent last season playing with the Southwest Cougars of the Manitoba “AAA” Midget Hockey League, made 20 saves.

“I feels great being a Bronco this year and I knew right from the beginning we had a group that could go a long way,” Rommelaere said. “I think we could have made a run for first in the province as well if we didn't have a little mix up in the semifinal but I'm pretty happy where we are right now.”

The Broncos won both their round robin games Thursday beating Morris 3-1 and the Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders 6-2.

The quest for the championship banner came to an end Friday when Boissevain dropped a 3-2 decision to the Prairie Mountain Mustangs in the semifinals.

The Carman Cougars downed Prairie Mountain 4-2 in the championship game.

Killarney/Wawanesa blanked the Major Pratt Trojans 1-0 in the consolation final.
