The Boissevain Broncos are Provincial A/AA Junior Varsity girls volleyball champions.

Boissevain defeated the Prairie Mountain Predators 25-16, 21-25, 15-13 in the championship game Saturday in Morris.

Both the Broncos and Predators played outstanding volleyball in the deciding nail-biting third set.

“Every one took deep breaths,” said Boissevain left-side hitter Faith Billaney when asked how they were able to pull out the victory when it got real nerve-racking near the end of the third set. “We played our hardest and we knew we could do it.”

The Zone 9 champions went undefeated at the Provincials.

The Broncos won all three pool games.

Boissevain beat Warren 23-25, 25-20, 17-1; swept Major Pratt of Russell 25-7, 26-24 and defeated the number one seed Steinbach Christian Flames 25-14, 25-22.

The Broncos then eliminated Killarney 25-23, 25-15 in the quarterfinals and beat Steinbach Christian 25-21, 19-25, 15-11 in the semifinals.

Setter Dylyn Albrecht was named a Tournament All-Star while Faith Billaney was chosen the MVP.

“It’s a pretty big deal,” said Billaney. “I’ve worked hard and I’m trying to improve at volleyball every day.”
