The Ile des Chenes Northstars will play in the 2016 Allan Cup.

The North Stars gave up a pair of late third period goals but held on for a 5-4 victory over the Manitoba Lightning Sunday night in Morden.

Ile des Chenes took the best-of-three Allan Cup qualifier two games to one.

Killarney's Reid Gow, who earlier in the day helped the Shamrocks defeat the Souris Elks 4-2 in the deciding fifth game of the Tiger Hills Hockey League's West Division final, had a goal and two assists for the North Stars.

Andres Strome, Mike Rey and Lee Goran also scored for Ile des Chenes.

Jason Frykas had a pair of goals for the Lightning while the rest went to Ken Selby and Matt Gingera.

The North Stars won the series opener 5-4 on February 28th in Morden.

The Lightning took game two 4-3 in double overtime on March 6th in Ile des Chenes.

The 2016 Allan Cup National Senior "AAA" Hockey Championship will be held April 11th to 16th in Steinbach.

The South East Prairie Thunder are the host team and the defending Allan Cup champions.
