The Virden Oil Capitals picked seven players in the 2018 Manitoba Junior Hockey League Bantam Draft which was held Sunday morning in Winnipeg.

The Oil Capitals selected forward Roux Bazin of Treherne with the 10th overall pick in round one.

Bazin recorded 25 goals and 21 assists in 31 games with the Pembina Valley AAA Bantam Hawks this past season.

Virden took defenseman Trevor Hunt of Hartney in round two and blueliner Tyler Teasdale of Winnipeg in round three.

The Oil Capitals had two selections in round four and round five.

Virden took defenseman David Bielik of Winnipeg and forward Ryland Kuczek of St. Andrews in round four and defenseman Nolan Wallace of Brandon and forward Slade Stanick of Rapid City in round five.

The Winkler Flyers selected forward Grady Lane of Virden with the first overall pick of the draft. Lane had 22 goals and 20 assists in 35 games with the Southwest AAA Bantam Cougars.

Defenseman Nolan Wickham of Waskada went to the Dauphin Kings, forward Myles Sobry of Souris was chosen by the Waywayseecappo Wolverines and forward Avery Kirkup was picked by the Steinbach Pistons in round four.

Defenseman Brayden Mosset of Waskada was selected by the Swan Valley Stampders in round five.

Forward Cody Gudnason of Killarney went to the Neepawa Natives in the sixth and final round.
