The Portage Terriers are RBC Cup champions.

Jordan Boyd and Brad Bowles scored third period power play goals and Zac Robidoux stopped 26 shots as the host Terriers downed the Carleton Place Canadians 5-2 in Sunday's championship game.

Grant Valiquette, Davis Ross and Shawn Bowles also scored for the Manitoba Junior Hockey League champions.

Alex Robinson and Maxime St. Pierre replied for the Canadians who lost the RBC Cup final for the second year in a row.

“To actually get it done is everything that you would hope that it would be,” said Terriers head coach & general manager Blake Spiller. “It's always a tough tournament and you never really know. There's good teams here and you need that bounce here and there and along the way, and we always say we need the stars to align and they did for us this year.”

It's the second National Junior “A” Hockey Championship for the Terriers who won the Centennial Cup in 1973.

It's also Manitoba's second Canadian title this hockey season.

The South East Prairie Thunder captured the Allan Cup last month in Clarenville, Newfoundland.
