The two teams who met in the 1-2 page playoff game last year in Brandon will meet today at 6 p.m in the 1-2 page playoff game at the 2016 Viterra Championship at the Selkirk Recreation Complex.

Reid Carruthers will face Mike McEwen..

The winner advances to Sunday afternoon's final while the loser will play in the semifinal tomorrow morning.

McEwen, BJ Neufeld, Matt Wozniak and Denni Neufeld reeled off their fifth straight win this morning.

The Fort Rouge foursome got three in the seventh end and downed William Lyburn of the Granite 7-3.

McEwen says he's really looking forward to tonight's 1-2 game.

“It's the perfect position that you want to be in just in case something goes bad you have a second life. Couldn't be happier with how well we played that game going into tonight. It feels pretty good.”

Carruthers needed to draw to the full eight foot with his final stone of the 10th end to beat Alex Forrest of East St. Paul 4-3.

The West St. Paul skip, who found a piece of the button with that final throw, doesn't feel his team has a psychological advantage tonight even though they beat McEwen in last year's 1-2 game and the final.

“I don't think there's going to be much edge,” Carruthers said. “Playing against the number one team in the world – yes we did get them a couple of times – but we've got each other a few times this year. I think the season series is close to even, so it's going to be a good one tonight.”

Carruthers, Braeden Moskowy, Derek Samagalski and Colin Hodgson beat McEwen 6-5 in last year's1-2 game.

There are two elimination games at 2 p.m.

Lyburn will meet Daley Peters of East St. Paul and Forrest will take on Canadian junior champion Matt Dunstone of the Granite.

The winners will play in the 3-4 page playoff game at 6 p.m.

Dunstone downed Dennis Bohn of Assiniboine Memorial 7-1 this morning while Peters outscored Scott Ramsay of the Thistle 7-6.
