Renovations continue on the 1915 Demonstration Farm House in Killarney.  The building has been under construction to restore it and eventually to rehabilitate it into a community centre for the arts, including gallery space, studios, workshop and a kitchen.

Eunice Buhler is the Chairperson for the Killarney-Turtle Mountain Arts Council.  She says they have been working at the first phase of the building project, which is the exterior of the house.  They’ve been scraping old paint and are now in the painting stage of the exterior.

The project is estimated to cost $250,000 by the time it is complete.  The Arts Council has received approximately $113,000 from various different grants and funding programs.  Buhler adds they are still applying for funding through various venues, and have to wait to begin work on the interior until further funds come in.

The committee has divided the entire project into various different sponsorship opportunities, where donors can designate their donation to a specific room, staircase, landscaping and grounds project, etc.  The committee has been encouraged throughout the process through the local community, Communities in Bloom committee and CIB judges through positive feedback.  They are hoping that local individuals and businesses will come alongside them and support the Demonstration Farm House Arts Centre.
