A national body has been formed to help spread agricultural awareness to young people.

Agriculture in the Classroom-Canada (AITC-C), which has been in the making for 10 years, held its first Annual General Meeting earlier this month in Saskatoon.

Chair Johanne Ross says having seven provinces at the table will help strengthen their efforts.

"It's time to have a bit of a national identity to agriculture education," she said. "Even though education is really a provincial jurisdiction, we know that this kind of focus to bring awareness to young people across Canada is very much a national effort. We're pretty excited to bring some of these programs to the national stage."

Provinces included in the partnership include Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland.

Ross adds that their ultimate goal is to get all of Canada on board.
