For the first time ever in Canada, two air ambulance services, STARS and Ornge (formerly Ontario Air Ambulance) have joined arms in preventing snowmobile related emergencies across our country.

The two air ambulance services are creating awareness across our country on snowmobile safety for passengers and drivers.

STARS Media Relations Spokesperson Cam Heke tells us, when in a sticky situation, how they are able to help you.

"Part of the equation is ensuring, somebody does know where you are," he said. "STARS and Ornge can be involved in search and rescue but the best thing is to have somebody be able to point us in the direction as to where you would be and that can be done through GPS but also just letting somebody know the trail that you'll be riding on."

Heke says you can learn more about snowmobile safety by visiting the Canadian Council of Snowmobile Organizations' website.
