The head of Manitoba's municipal lobby group is optimistic his organization will be able to partner together with the new provincial government in addressing Manitoba's infrastructure needs.
Chris Goertzen says the PC party talked about investing significant dollars into infrastructure during the election campaign. For that to happen, Goertzen says the Association of Manitoba Municipalities recognizes the need for efficient government

"How that takes shape, we'll just have to wait and see over the coming weeks and months. However, the provincial government certainly wants to look at regulations, look at rules and if they're in the way, if they don't make sense, if they're from 30 years ago, let's review them and let's be more efficient. Municipalities want to be a partner in that."

Based on the PC party's sweeping victory to power in Tuesday's provincial election, Goertzen suggested Manitobans obviously wanted a change in government and AMM looks forward to working with the new administration. He expects Brian Pallister will be eager to tackle the challenges facing the province, which includes addressing Manitoba's infrastructure deficit.

"Infrastructure is a huge challenge across Manitoba and we're going to be a partner in tackling that and in reducing regulation and red tape. They talked about investing significant dollars in infrastructure and we look forward to those conversations."
