The Canadian National Arabian and Half-Arabian Championship Horse Show returns to Brandon next month.

The show, which runs August 14th to 20th, will include 200 different classes in youth, western, hunter, dressage and english disciplines.

Arabian Horse Association Director of Marketing, Julian McPeak stated the show will also include interactive learning tours.

"Total Arabian Interaction and Learning tours and they are free to the public. They are an educational series that lets kids and adults come in through different times during the show.  They will start with hands on learning and walk through our miniature museum exhibit that we have.  They will also get to meet a real live Arabian horse and look at some of the tack and meet some of the riders.  Generally the tour guide will end the session taking them into one of the rings to watch the classes and explain what is going on."

McPeak noted horses will travel from all over Canada and the United States to participate in the show.

Meanwhile, this is the 6th year the event has been held in the westman community.

McPeak shared why the Keystone Centre continues to be a good host site for the competition.

"Our exhibitors like to have lots of lunging space, we use a lot of stall spaces because we are very ellaborate.  Almost like a living room set up that the exhibitors and trainers come in do because they are there for so long that they use more stalls then we actually have horses.  In Canada we run two rings simultaneously so we have a lot of needs.  The Keystone Centre has been great.  They have supported us and made some improvements to the facility.  They are constantly looking for ways to make our exhibitors happy."

She added an Armed Forces day to celebrate the Canadian and U.S. military will take place at CFB Shilo on August 19th.

The public is encouraged to attend and wear red to support the troops. A special flag presentation will be exhibited just prior to the evening session.
