Killarney Lake Beach will be busy with activity this weekend as the community holds its annual Beachfest celebration.

The 26th annual event includes a family dance at the golf course Friday night, with a car rally also taking place that same evening.

Volunteer Organizer Rob MacDonald says there is one big change taking place this year.

“This year we're not doing the boat parade, we replaced it with the car rally on the Friday night,” he said. “It's something that people put a lot of work into and we kind of got the feedback that every other year might be a good thing for it.”

MacDonald notes the two big events on Saturday are the 4-on-4 beach volleyball and mixed softball tournaments.

Other events on Saturday include a sandcastle building contest, a senior's dance, inflatables for the kids and face painting.
