Kim McKay, Chairperson of the Boissevain Festival of the Arts committee, is looking forward to this year's event.

She noted the entries for piano performances were the most popular, with 233 entries.

Vocal sessions are the second most common entry at the festival, and the visual arts category only has 6 entries so far.

"We're a little disappointed with the numbers on that this year, there is still time for people to enter if they would like to," said McKay, noting they're willing to accept visual art entries for a few more days. She had hoped for close to 20 entries.

"We know there's lots of artists out there," said McKay. "It's just getting the information out there to the public."

This is the second year the visual arts category will be part of the festival.

The festival is about 2 weeks long. The first category, piano, will run from March 6-8, while the vocal performances are March 12 and 13. The visual arts viewing will take place March 16 at the town library.

The awards ceremony will be on March 18 at the Whitewater Church, and is open to the public.

"Anybody's welcome to come, it's usually a great afternoon of entertainment," McKay said.
