The Boissevain and Morton foundation will be handing out free cake Friday in celebration of its 40th year.

Chair Patty Rainnie says some of the contributions they've made in recent years include purchasing new tables and chair for the golf course and donating to the town's new composting site.

“We're just beginning another project where we are creating a new fund within the foundation to create new bursaries for students in the community,” explained Rainnie.

Rainnie notes the foundation hands out about $80,000 every year, while still maintaining a balance of around $3 million.

The organization is inviting everyone to the Boissevain Farmers' Market Friday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm to help them celebrate.
