A number of Westman municipalities including Boissevain-Morton have secured funding to enhance spring flood preparations and protection.

A total of $8 million will support more than 80 municipalities in the province.
Municipalities in Western Manitoba will receive $1.13 million to help make several purchases and improvements.

Boissevain-Morton Mayor Judy Swanson is thrilled they landed a grant of #113,700.

“There was a very small window for this grant and we noticed a grant there and we thought this was an opportune time to apply for things like generators and other equipment we would need in case of a flood.”

Fourteen municipalities in the Western District will receive up to $1,139,583.73.

“We are using the money to purchase Generator and transfer switch, Emergency Operations Centre equipment, culvert steaming equipment, first aid kit and flashlights. We have to purchase everything by the end of June of 2020.
