Brandon Riverbank Inc is busy putting together a master plan for services that are offered along the Assiniboine River.

Riverbank Development and Tourism Services Manager Lois MacDonald says with flooding becoming the new normal, they need to come up with a plan on how to move forward.

She notes even though the riverbank experiences flooding, there are still areas that are able to handling the flooding and are useable.

"We still want to have green space and leisure areas for our community to come and play. We really want the riverbank to be Brandon central park - the place where people come and play and celebrate and learn. There's a lot of different options available."

MacDonald notes moving the major sporting facilities, such as soccer fields, out of the area is definitely being considered.

She adds plausible options for the area include trails, wetlands and gardens.
